Put it all together, fired it up, and got no display on the TV. “Oh, I probably just have to configure it with VGA first, no big deal, right?” I was wrong… very, very wrong.

After plugging in the VGA monitor, absolutely no output was displayed. Also, I had no PC speaker, so no chance of beep codes helping me here. I played with it, tried a few motherboard things for about 3 hours, then went to sleep for the night. I knew something was broken at that point.

So, I woke up the next morning, and, on a whim, decided to open up another computer I only had once before and check out the RAM. Sure enough, it was the same type. I plugged it in, and it worked. I was ecstatic.
So, I install Ubuntu, run some updates, and install XBMC.

But I had another problem: The TV I displayed in the previous post didn’t have an S-Video port. So, this computer is now on another TV. I’m pretty satisfied though, except for the RAM, which is a pain to get a refund on. (NO ONE EVER BUY FROM “Kyobe” ON EBAY.)

Anyway, I’ll get new RAM soon, plus a remote. Though I’m not quite sure if I really need my home server anymore, since I canceled my usenet and am sharing it with someone on their VPS. I can just use this computer and download, and have extra space too… that sounds nice.

My RAM is still on it’s way home, but after that I’m all set.

And if you haven’t figured it out, this is just mainly a handful of pics of my parts, still going to put it together. Also, the TV is what I’m connecting it to.
